A piece of art?

In the entrance, where there are the stairs that lead upstairs, there is a little niche, with place for sitting.
According to what we have heard, such place was used by chauffeurs when waiting for the people to leave the ball or dinner or whatever they were invited to.

In particular, there is a painting/drawing over the sitting place.
I don't know the name of the technique used to paint there, but it is painted directly on the wood (which unfortunately is a bit cracked and perforated by holes - thank to some of the previous owners, I'd add).
The painting, by Rich Björklund (1897 - 1974), 1917
It is signed Rich Björklund, '17. Searching on Google on his name, it is possible to find that there was a "relatively famous" painter in Skåne, called Richard Björklund. He had not yet started his arts studies (if it is him, the author) in Lund at the time of this painting.
After that, and his studies in Paris and Berlin his style will change a lot.
